Noting that Pongal has not been included in UNESCO’s list of Indian festivals, writer and activist Suba Veerapandian has appealed to Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Siva to take steps to ensure the traditional Pongal festival is recognised by UNESCO and included in its official list of festivals.
