Cyclone ‘Murasu’, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, crossed the coast as a very severe cyclonic storm. It made landfall between Nellore and Narasapur in Andhra Pradesh, to the south of Ongole. At the time of landfall, strong winds blew at a speed of 120 kmph, accompanied by heavy rainfall. Heavy rain also occurred in some places across the northern and northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
