In June 2020, with the objective of improving the livelihoods of street vendors across the country, the ‘Prime Minister’s Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi’ (PM SVANidhi) scheme was launched. The Central Government has stated that, under this scheme, collateral-free loans amounting to ₹17,800 crore have been disbursed to 7.5 million street vendors.
