On his very first day as Chief Minister, Vijay fulfilled a key election promise by signing the order for 200 units of free electricity bimonthly to domestic consumers using up to 500 units. The government will bear an additional annual subsidy of Rs.1,730 crore, while consumers above 500 units will continue to get the existing 100 units free under the current tariff structure.
