The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme is being implemented across the country. The government of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh introduced this scheme keeping in mind the welfare of the unemployed in rural areas. Now, the central government has approved changing the name of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
