Sanitation workers in Chennai have been staging protests for the past two days. Police were deployed at the office of Chief Minister Vijay in Perambur today, as the workers had planned to lay siege to the premises. Subsequently, police forcibly removed and arrested sanitation workers who attempted to stage a sit-in protest at the Tondiarpet Zonal Office.
