During the hearing of the petition filed by Vilathikulam DMK MLA Markandeyan challenging the order for his imprisonment, it was argued that “Markandeyan spoke only in response to the Chief Minister’s statement that the Assembly would be locked; he did not speak with the intention of disturbing public peace.”
