In a surprise move, a fine of Rs.50,000 was imposed on the Joint Secretaries of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (under Amit Shah) and the Union Ministry of External Affairs (under Jaishankar) for failing to disclose details regarding correspondence between Sri Lanka and India concerning a drug smuggling case.
