Journalist Senthil Vel criticized actor Vijay for not visiting the victims of the Karur tragedy, where 41 people died, saying Vijay has not stepped out of his house since the incident. He questioned whether good dancing skills alone qualify someone to become a Chief Minister, adding that Ajith and Rajinikanth are better than Vijay in this regard.
