Amidst the outbreak of internal strife within the AIADMK, 30 MLAs—led by former AIADMK ministers SP Velumani and CV Shanmugam—met with Interim Speaker Karuppiah at the Chennai Secretariat. They submitted a letter to the Speaker formally electing S.P. Velumani as the leader of the AIADMK Legislative Party.
