While the Pongal festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Tamil Nadu yesterday, today, meat shops are witnessing huge crowds. In various places in Nellai, people are waiting in long queues at meat shops to buy the meat they need. Mutton is being sold for up to one thousand rupees per Kg, and chicken for 300 rupees per kg.
