A new district is being planned with Palani, one of Lord Murugan’s six abodes, as its center. However, protests have already erupted, demanding that Pollachi be made the district headquarters instead. Additionally, residents oppose the inclusion of Udumalpet and Madathukulam in the proposed Palani district.
