The weather department has forecast heavy rain with thunder and lightning in 22 districts of Tamil Nadu until 1 AM. Orange alert has been issued for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Ranipet. Rain is also likely in 17 other districts including Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Erode.
