Trichy Siva MP stated that the constituency delimitation bill poses a significant adverse impact primarily on the southern states. He noted that while Uttar Pradesh had a population of 60 million in the past—which has now surged to 200 million—this would result in an increase of only 9 additional seats for Tamil Nadu, whereas Uttar Pradesh would gain 53 constituencies.
