Marriage halls are used for an average of only 40 days a year. Since the current electricity tariff is very high, it should be reduced and brought under the service charge category. The Tamil Nadu All Marriage Hall Owners Association has urged the government to exempt marriage halls from the peak-hour electricity tariff.
