Hopes were high for announcements on financial assistance for the Madurai AIIMS hospital and metro rail projects for cities including Madurai and Coimbatore in today’s Union Budget. However, the absence of such announcements has led to disappointment, especially among people expecting major infrastructure commitments for Tamil Nadu.
