Surjeeth, the Perur Secretary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been arrested for allegedly smuggling 227 kilograms of banned gutkha tobacco products in a car near Mechcheri, close to Mettur. Police have seized the vehicle and registered a case, with further investigation currently underway.
