A new scheme has been introduced in Tamil Nadu to reduce the workload of 7,500 electricity meter readers by enabling them to record readings via a mobile app. Tamil Nadu Government has announced that, for this purpose, employees will be provided with a financial assistance of ₹10,000 to purchase a mobile phone, as well as a CUG SIM card.
