Indian Railways has given green light to the ₹993 crore Arakkonam-Chengalpattu double rail line project, a major boost for Chennai’s suburban rail network. The 68-km doubling will ease heavy congestion, reduce train delays, increase services, and improve both passenger travel and freight movement in the rapidly growing Chennai region.
