Tamil Nadu Water Resources Department has stated that since water is being released in advance from Chembarambakkam, Puzhal and Poondi, even in the event of very heavy rains, flood water will be limited and will reach the sea safely in the Adyar and Kosasthalai rivers; the public need not panic.
