Actor Parthiban had filed a case in the High Court seeking an order directing the Tamil Nadu government to enact legislation for issuing certificates to individuals wishing to be recognized as having no caste or religion. The court has granted the Tamil Nadu government an additional four weeks to file its response in the matter.
