The intense summer heat usually recorded in May had lessened this year due to the early onset of the monsoon. Now, with the monsoon gaining strength, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has issued a warning that very heavy rainfall is expected over the next few days in districts adjacent to the Western Ghats. It has also warned that heavy rain is likely today in eight specific districts.
