A significant gold deposit has been confirmed in Kanajuru village of Haveri district, Karnataka, with 27 lakh metric tonnes of mineral resources estimated to contain 3.4 grams of gold per tonne. The Supreme Court’s recent judgment has paved the way for mining, which could transform the local economy and increase India’s domestic gold output.
