Sheikh Hasina sought refuge in India in August 2024 after resigning as Prime Minister amidst internal unrest in Bangladesh; a tribunal in that country has since sentenced her to death. The Central Government has not yet acceded to Bangladesh’s request for her extradition. Amidst this situation, Sheikh Hasina has suddenly stated-after two years-that she intends to leave India and return to Banglade
