In connection with a case near Alangulam in which six people were hacked with sickles, the police shot and apprehended an individual named Ayyappan. Ayyappan, a native of Nettur who had been absconding, was shot and captured by the police in self-defense after he attempted to attack the officers. Eight other individuals have already been arrested in connection with this case.
