On the occasion of Aadi Amavasai, people gathered at holy water bodies and other water sources to perform Tharpanam rituals and offer prayers to their ancestors. Thousands of devotees performed these rituals at locations including Rameswaram, Tiruchendur, Kanyakumari, and Srirangam.
