The fares set for travel on AC electric trains in Chennai have once again come as a shock to passengers. This time, the price disparity is even more pronounced: the fare for the 59 km stretch between Chennai Beach and Chengalpattu has been set at ₹105, while the fare for the 68 km distance between Arakkonam and the Chennai Central suburban railway station has been fixed at ₹230.
