Natarajan, a tiles dealer from Thiruvengadam Nagar in Ambattur, had borrowed ₹16 lakh from Kalimuthu, who runs a tiles shop in Jack Nagar, Thirumullaivoyal (near Ambattur). Kalimuthu reportedly collected ₹1.15 crore against this loan. Based on a complaint regarding this, the police arrested Kalimuthu under the Prohibition of Exorbitant Interest Act.
