Private meteorologist Hemachandar has predicted the formation of two consecutive low-pressure systems this December. After December 23, a cyclone may develop in the southern Bay of Bengal, similar to Cyclone ditwah, bringing heavy rainfall to coastal districts from Kanyakumari to Chennai.
