The IMD has issued a red alert for North Chennai and Tiruvallur for the next three hours due to the likelihood of very heavy rainfall. An orange alert has also been issued for Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram. Rain is also expected in Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Tiruchirappalli, and Kanyakumari districts.
