Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, BJP has reportedly demanded 50 seats from AIADMK in the alliance talks, citing its growth in key constituencies. Edappadi K. Palaniswami is said to be upset over the demand as AIADMK plans to allocate seats to PMK, DMDK, and TMC as well. The seat-sharing dispute has triggered tension within the alliance.
