The Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 project is currently being implemented for a distance of 116.1 km. The first section of the project, a 10 km stretch from Poonamallee to Porur Junction, is scheduled to be opened to the public in December. However, there has been a delay in obtaining the safety certificate for the Poonamallee-Porur Metro Rail line.
