With heavy traffic shifting long-distance buses from Koyambedu to the new Kilambakkam Bus Terminal, passengers have faced major inconvenience due to the lack of a railway link. Tamil Nadu Minister Sekarbabu has now announced that the Kilambakkam railway station will likely open for public use by January 2026, with efforts underway to launch services even before Pongal.
