A 127-foot tall AIADMK flagpole had been erected on the Salem bypass road in Ulundurpet, Kallakurichi district. However, due to heavy rains last night, the flagpole suddenly collapsed around midnight. Fortunately, no one was present in the area at the time, and a major tragedy was averted.
