54 Special Economic Zones have been set up in Tamil Nadu. Statistics show that 7 lakh people have got employment through these Special Economic Zones. Chengalpattu district has the highest employment in Tamil Nadu with 3 lakh 57 thousand 758 people. This is more than 50 percent of the total employment.
