A train hit a school van while it was passing through a railway gate in Cuddalore, killing three students. While it is being said that the accident occurred because the gatekeeper did not close the gate when the train was approaching and fell asleep, the railways have denied this. Meanwhile, the railways have said that the District Collector is also responsible for the accident.
