On 13.7.2019, a complaint was raised that a false case was filed against 11 volunteers of the Arappor Iyakkam who had gone on a survey to recommend to the government to remove encroachments in water bodies and restore them. In this regard, The Human Rights Commission has ordered a fine of Rs. 11 against the police inspector in this matter.
