Under the ‘Valanmigu Velanmai’ (Prosperous Agriculture) assistance scheme, a government order has been issued allocating Rs. 26 crore to provide ‘tatkal’ (expedited) electricity connections to 1,000 farmers from the Adi Dravidar community. For a motor with a maximum capacity of 15 horsepower—costing a total of Rs. 4 lakh—a subsidy of Rs. 3.60 lakh will be provided.
