In a post on X, a resident of the Chennai Corporation stated, “Greetings to the Chennai Corporation. My half-yearly property tax has suddenly jumped from ₹585 (up to the first half of the 2025-26 year) to ₹6,670 (starting from the second half of the 2025-26 year). This represents an increase of over 1,000 percent (a tenfold rise).”
