The Madras High Court declared DMK leader M. Appavu as the rightful winner of the 2016 Radhapuram Assembly election and set aside AIADMK candidate I.S. Inbadurai’s victory. Justice G. Jayachandran also expressed concern over the prolonged delay in resolving the election dispute, stating that such delays could undermine democratic values and voter rights.
