Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has asserted that approval for the Mekedatu Dam project rests solely with the Central Government and not Tamil Nadu. Despite Tamil Nadu’s strong opposition citing threats to Cauvery water flow and delta agriculture, Karnataka remains firm on proceeding with the project for Bengaluru’s drinking water and power generation.
