According to the 2011 Census, the literacy rate among Muslims aged 7 years and above is 68.5%, while the all-India literacy rate is 73.0%. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that compared to the 2001 Census, the literacy rate among Muslims increased by 9.4% in the 2011 Census.
