The Madras High Court has dismissed the petition filed by Hari Nadar seeking permission to cast his vote from prison. Citing the Representation of the People Act, the court stated that individuals arrested and lodged in prison in criminal cases, as well as those convicted and imprisoned, are not eligible to vote while in custody.
