Premkumar, an independent candidate from the Edappadi constituency backed by Vijay, has declared that he will defeat Edappadi Palaniswami in his home constituency. The TVK is not contesting in the Edappadi constituency, as the nomination paper of its candidate there was rejected. Consequently, TVK leader Vijay extended his support to independent candidate Premkumar.
