Social activist Kaliammal, who recently exited the NTK party, has expressed her concern that Tamil Nadu’s indigenous seafaring community, the fishermen, need political representation. She lamented that there are no representatives in the Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha to voice the issues faced by fishermen.
