BR Gavai has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He will take charge as the Chief Justice on May 14. He belongs to the Dalit community. With this, PR Kawai will have the distinction of being the second person from the Dalit community to hold the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
