A major fraud has come to light through documents submitted in court, revealing that 312 sovereigns of gold donated by devotees for crafting new Utsavar idols at the Ekambaranathar Temple in Kanchipuram have been misappropriated. The current value of the misused gold amounts to ₹3.12 crore, causing widespread shock and concern among devotees.
