There is a railway line from Thiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari of 86 km. Of which 57 km. is in Tamil Nadu and 29 km. is in Kerala. A third railway line is to be constructed on the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil track to accommodate freight trains. Studies for this have begun.
