The deep depression near the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Montha’ at around 11:30 pm last night. As a result, an orange alert has been issued for very heavy rain in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Ranipet districts.
