The death anniversary of Emanuel Sekaran, a political leader and freedom fighter who fought for the rights of the oppressed people living in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, is being observed on September 11. Ramanathapuram District Collector has ordered restrictions on those who come to Paramakudi to pay their respects on that day.
